We operate as a typical overnight camp:
- Camp is predominantly outdoors, in a beautiful outdoor space.
- Camp can be loud with the energy of our campers and staff, especially at times when we are all together eating meals or participating in evening activities. We will aim to help campers who are sensitive to loud environments find a quieter near space during these activities.
- We have three meals together, 4 structured activity periods + snacks, a free period, rest period, and an evening activity
- Campers sleep in yurts or cabins with others of the same age group and choose bunkmates with similar or varied gender identities. Yurts sleep up to 12 campers with 2-4 staff and become a close knit community.
- Campers are under the direct care of camp counselors at all times
- Campers and counselors are called by their preferred name and pronoun
- Bunks rotate activities together twice daily as a way to experience all the activities camp has to offer and to build a stronger bond with their bunkmates and counselors
- Campers have the flexibility to sign up for two additional activities daily that fit their interests
- Campers interact without technology, We know that CIP campers will thrive making friends and having experiences presently in their outdoors environment – We do not allow video games, Internet, or cell phones at camp. Music players, audio books, and digital cameras are allowed!
It is important to note that we are not a therapeutic camp. Camp Indigo Point is a special and unique experience away from home for kids where they develop independence (with help from our camp counselors), stretch into new experiences living with peers and developing face-to-face relationships, experience the beauty of being outdoors, and try new activities while becoming experts at others.

Accommodations
Campers stay in yurts or cabins with approximately 12 other campers and 2-4 counselors. Camp Indigo Point bunks campers based on their grade and personal preference of gender-identities. Our options for bunking align with the experiences we found dear to LGBTQ+ youth. We do not bunk campers by any particular gender, and instead offer options that allow campers to find affirmation and comfort within their bunk community. All bunks have campers with diverse genders in them. Yurts are permanent wooden structures enclosed in fabric and equipped with electricity, bunk beds, wooden shelving, and space to hang out in the middle. Our cabins are similarly equipped. Restrooms and showers are located in each housing village, with additional restrooms located throughout camp – all have ample privacy with private stalls, and accommodate all genders.
